Finance Minutes 6/8/2010

Minutes of the Finance Committee meeting held on Tuesday, June 8th, 2010 pursuant to notice duly given.

1. Meeting called to order at 4:15 p.m. by Chairperson Maas.

2. Roll call: Jack Maas, Dick Doeren, Ed Young, Roger Reed and Pete Nelson. Also present: Mayor Fulton and Linda Belongia Administrator and as recording secretary.

3. Moved by Doeren seconded by Reed to approve of the agenda as presented.

4. No correspondence or public input.

5. Discussion on 2010 Oconto County Land Sale which includes the former Laundromat property on Brazeau Avenue; Belongia attended the Land Information Systems meeting on June 2nd; property is assessed at $33,900 for the land and $26,700 for the improvements per city tax records; county had it appraised by R&R for total of $20,000; LIS committee offered the property to the city for $15,000; of that amt we will receive back $1,811 for special assessment owed city; two proposals were received for razing of the property, Jackie Foster Inc for $17,500 and Carlie’s Landscaping & Excavating, LLC for $6,500;
Moved by Doeren seconded by Nelson to recommend to Council to purchase the property from the county for $15,000 and accept proposal from Carlie’s Landscaping & Excavating, LLC for $6,500 to raze the property with funds coming from the undesignated general fund.
Motion carried upon verbal voice vote. 5 ayes

6. Discussion on recommendation from Park & Rec to approve of repair to Holtwood Access Road not to exceed budgeted amount of $17,000. Work will be done by our Public Works Dept.
Moved by Nelson seconded by Reed to recommend to Council to approve of repair to Holtwood Access Road not to exceed budgeted amount of $17,000 with work being done by our Public Works Dept.
Motion carried upon verbal voice vote. 5 ayes

7. Moved by Reed seconded by Young to adjourn. M/C
