Finance Minutes 7/13/2010

Minutes of the Finance Committee meeting held on Tuesday, July 13th, 2010 pursuant to notice duly given.

1. Meeting called to order by Chairperson Maas at 5:30 p.m.
2. Roll call: Jack Maas, Dick Doeren, Roger Reed and Pete Nelson. Ed Young was excused. Also present: Mayor Fulton and Linda Belongia Administrator and as recording secretary.
3. Moved by Doeren seconded by Reed to approve of the agenda as presented.
Motion carried upon verbal voice vote. 4 ayes
4. No correspondence or public input.
5. Discussion/recommendation on proposals received for reroofing of city hall. Maas stated at last weeks finance we reviewed proposals for doing the roof area over the police dept only; this amts to approx 1/5 of the entire roof area; we will always be playing catch up doing it this way; also committee felt going with the metal roof vs. shingle because of the extended warranty was the way to go; committee directed Belongia to contact to contractors who proposed a metal roof; one proposal was from Schwartz Siding & Roofing for a 50 yr Décor Steel shingle at $138,700; the other proposal was from La Plant for a 100 year or lifetime warranty on city hall for Gerard Stone Coated Metal Shingle (Granite Ridge) to be done over the existing city hall including all new flashings for a bid of $97,500; Craig La Plant was present stated they would put a complete underlayment; new flashings; the warranty is non prorated; warranty is a long as city hall is here;

Moved by Reed seconded by Doeren to recommend to Council to accept the proposal from La Plant Metal Roofing to do the entire city hall roof with Gerard Stone Coated Metal Shingles, with a lifetime warranty at a cost of $97,500.
Motion carried upon verbal voice vote. 4 ayes

6. Moved by Doeren seconded by Nelson to adjourn. M/C
