MINUTES OF THE MEETING FOR THE
TOURISM COMMITTEE
HELD ON TUESDAY, AUGUST 3, 2010
AT CITY HALL, COUNCIL CHAMBERS

1. Meeting called to order by Mayor at 9:01 am
2. Election of President and Secretary.
Moved by Hayes to elect Doren as President, Motion carried upon verbal voice vote with 5 ayes.
Moved by Hayes to elect Proksch as Secretary, Motion carried upon verbal voice vote with 5 ayes.
3. Roll Call: Terri Berth, Ron Hayes, Krista Proksch, Dick Doren, Ken Thompson
Also Present: Kale Proksch and Mayor Fulton Absent: Ed Zahn, Pete Stark, Dale Mohr
4. Moved by Hayes second by Thompson to approve agenda as presented.
Motion carried upon verbal voice vote with 5 ayes.
5. Purpose of this committee: promote and bring tourism into the City of Oconto. Budget was discussed regarding how much the city would allocate to the tourism committee. Doren stated in years past a large amount goes to Copperfest. Committee would like to invite Gary Zahn to sit in on the next meeting. Moved by Berth. Second by Thompson to invite Zahn to the next meeting.
Motion carried upon verbal voice vote with 5 ayes
6. DISCUSSION/RECOMMENDATION:
a. Pickle Vat and Bond Pickle Sign
Hayes recommends the Kiwanis storage shed as a possible site to store the Bond Pickle Historical items for future use. Hayes will look into the possibilities and discuss with the Street Department on where the items are currently placed.
b. Correspondence from OCEDC regarding 2011 Discovery Guide
Doren asked whether to do a 2 page or 1 page insert in the 2011 Discovery guide and showed past year inserts. Hayes stated to keep it to one because of budgets issues. Proksch would like to see the city logo incorporated into the page to keep the branding the same for the city. Moved by Hayes second by Berth to go ahead with a one page insert but make changes to the ad before print.
Motion carried upon verbal voice vote with 5 ayes
13. Next Meeting: To be held at on the last Tuesday of every month
August 31, 2010 at 9:00am at City Hall
14. Moved by Proksch second by Hayes to adjourn meeting at 10:20 a.m. M/C
