Police & Fire Minutes

Minute of the Police & Fire Commission meeting held on Thursday, September 3rd, 2009 at city hall pursuant to notice duly given.

1. Meeting called to order by President Olson at 3:04 p.m.

2. Roll call: Dick Olson, Tim Longsine, Steve Gering, Ron Hayes and Gene Berth. Also present: Mayor Nerenhausen, Atty. Jim Kalny and Linda Belongia Administrator and as recording secretary.

3. Moved by Hayes seconded by Gering to approve of the agenda and addendum as presented.
Motion carried upon verbal voice vote. 5 ayes

4. Public Input/Correspondence: John Reed stated for the record that he is not suing the city, just wants to get to the bottom of what happened.

5. President Olson stated the Commission may vote to convene into Closed Session pursuant to notice duly given and as allowed by Wis. Stats.
19.85(1) (e) for review of investing public funds on contracting for an
Interim Fire Chief.
Moved by Hayes seconded by Longsine to convene into Closed Session at 3:05 p.m.
Motion carried upon verbal roll call vote. 5 ayes

Also included in the Closed Session: Mayor Nerenhausen, Atty. Kalny and Dennis Ladwig.

Closed Session

Noted Dennis Ladwig left the Closed Session at 3:16 p.m.

6. Moved by Longsine seconded by Gering to reconvene into Open Session at 4:30 p.m.
Motion carried upon verbal voice vote. 5 ayes

7. a. Moved by Hayes seconded by Longsine to accept the resignation of the interim chief effective today, 9/3/2009.
Motion carried upon verbal voice vote. 5 ayes

b. Moved by Berth seconded by Gering to authorize and direct the Mayor and City Administrator to take all actions reasonably necessary to make
arrangements with Chief Doefer of Suamico to act as interim Chief on a
short term basis until such time as the Commission can appoint a long
term interim Chief.
Motion carried upon verbal voice vote. 5 ayes

c. Moved by Hayes seconded by Gering to authorize that until such time as Chief Doefer can take over responsibilities the Mayor and City
Administrator are directed to oversee the scheduling in accordance with
terms of the labor agreement.
Motion carried upon verbal voice vote. 5 ayes

8. Moved by Berth seconded by Longsine to adjourn. M/C
