Minutes of the Wage & Personnel and Police & Fire Commission meeting held on Monday, April 12th, 2010 at city hall pursuant to notice duly given.
1. Meeting called to order by Chairperson Schreiber at 5 p.m.
2. Roll call: Al Schreiber, Jack Maas, Jim Stiloski and John Wittkopf representing Wage & Personnel; representing the Police & Fire Commission: Dick Olson, Ron Hayes, Steve Gering and Gene Berth. Absent/Excused: Marlene Zahn and Tim Longsine. Also present: Mayor Nerenhausen, Atty. Kalny, Chief Don Phillips and Linda Belongia Administrator and as recording secretary.
3. Moved by Maas seconded by Wittkopf to approve of the agenda as presented.
Motion carried upon verbal voice vote. 8 ayes
4. No correspondence or public input.
5. Chairperson Schreiber stated the committee & commission may vote to convene into Closed Session pursuant to notice duly given and as allowed
by Wis. Stats. 19.85(1) (c), (e) & (g) to meet with legal counsel, Atty. Kalny
regarding negotiation strategy.
Moved by Maas seconded by Wittkopf to convene into Closed Session at 5:00 p.m.
Motion carried upon verbal roll call vote. 8 ayes

6. Moved by Wittkopf seconded by Maas to reconvene into Open Session at 6:07 p.m.
Motion carried upon verbal voice vote. 8 ayes
Noted at 6:07 p.m. PFC, Chief Phillips and Atty. Kalny left meeting.
7. Discussion on recommendation from BPW to approve of recommendation of Larry Behnke to fill the laborer position in the public works dept.
Maas stated W&P has no input on this…decision has already been made,
thought that a selection of candidates would be brought forth and W&P
would review and make the selection; Belongia stated past practice has
been that the BPW interviews those candidates and the Utility
Commission handles those interviews; Maas stated salary and benefits
are already in budget, no action required by W&P; Wittkopf stated number
of applications received; updated the process that was done and how
recommendation was arrived at; Wittkopf stated this will be brought directly to Council;
8. Moved by Wittkopf seconded by Stiloski to adjourn. M/C
