1.) Meeting called to Order at 9:00 A.M.
2.) Roll Call: Gamer, Jerry, Steve, Jim and Eileen. Also attending: James Valentine, Jean Vogalberg,
Mark Tuterberg, Damian Schowalter, Dave Schommer, Mark Melchart, Dave Roebke.
3.) Approval of Agenda: Jim moved to approve. Seconded by Jerry. Carried.
4.) Public Appearances! Correspondence: Jean Vogalberg said there will be public notices in the area
News Papers for the War-Bird Fly-In on May 30th. Jim Valentine had some information on a different
Make of AWOS and VASI'S. Eileen to contact Kim Kaarto on VASI lights. Dave Schommer said he
WouId paint the inside of Quonset Hangar. Airport to pay for paint as agreed in earlier Commission
Meeting.
5.) Approval of Minutes &om04/06/09 and Special Meeting on 04/17/09. Gamer moved to amend the 04/
17/09 minutes to read (in the interest of Public Safety). Jerry moved to accept minutes. Jim seconded.
Carried.
6.) Discussion /Approval of Department Reports:
A. Treasurer's Report. Jim moved to accept. Jerry seconded. Carried
B. Manager's Report: Jerry moved to accept. Seconded by Jim. Carried.
C. Review of Bills: Jim moved to accept. Seconded by Jerry. Carried.
7.) Discussion/action on Old Business: The Commission moved Mark Tuterberg up from New Business so
He could return to work. He will do the Airport Survey but not any mediating or negotiating if the need
Arises. Airport has to do that. County will charge airport for survey.
A. Pulleys for the Flag Pole: City will change them for us.
B. GPS Web Site: Steve put the correct information into the computer to and the registration has been
Approved for the Airports GIS System.
C. Cement floor in utility shed: Has been completed.
D. Progress on pictures and clippings of Bob Jubin: Is almost completed. Wrong backing had been
Sent to Dick Doeren.
E. Storage Space: Do not need at this time.
F. Wall panel in snow shed: Has not been fixed yet. Panels are not here.
G. Disposition of old plow and truck: Took old plow to city for scrap. As Roger Devener has died we
Can't put truck at his place. It is going to be placed on the highwaynear Amore's, with a for sale
Sign on.
8.) Discussion/action on New Business:
A. Formal hiring of Manager and common labor contracts: Jim moved to hire Eileen as Manager
According to contract worked out at March meeting. $7.25 per hour for total of no more than 941
Hours per roJling year. Common labor at $9.00 per hour for total of no more than 599 hours per
Rolling year, to commence with May 18thpay period. Seconded by Jerry. Carried. The Manager
Is responsible for calling labor into work. Anyone can apply for this work. Manager will have
List of who has applied for Commission to review.
B. Annual Report: Eileen got report ready and delivered it to City Hall and the Court House, Friday
May 8th2009.
C. Up-Date on EAA Fly-In Plans: Grass will have to be cut, stakes put out ahead of time. Steve will
Handle Unicorn communications in Terminal Bldg. and outside.
D. Dave Schommer, Hangar Rental: He will rent one spot in the building now. Plans on having a
Small museum with WWII items eventually. We have to remove the old insulation in the bi-fold
Door. It is of no use and looks bad.
E. Sludge Application: Matter has been dropped for the time being. Company was having a problem.
F. Super AWOS: Put on hold for more information.
G. Bid Opening for hangar bids: There were nine (9) bids submitted. They ranged from a high of
$42,718.00 to a low of$18,670.00 for an average bid of$28,435.00. The Commission wants more
Information before making a choice. Some included the cost of plans and permits fTomState. We
Will check with all to see what added costs might entail. Eileen will do this. There will be a Special
Meeting May 19th2009 at 1:00 P.M. to make final decision.
H. Clean up of stumps: Jerry moved to bave stumps and wood cleaned up. Jim seconded. Carried.
I. Tree Removal- Inside fence: Jerry asked if persons cutting wood would be covered by insurance in
Case of accident. It was noted that if the person is hired as a common laborer by the airport to cut
Wood, they would be covered. If it was someone whojust came in to cut with out being employed
By the airport they would not. Jerry then moved to have Clifford cut the wood, with help &om
Wayne. Seconded by Jim. Carried.
J. Tiller: Steve moved to purchase a used Tiller. Seconded by Jim. Carried.
K. Date for next meeting: June 1st2009 at 9:00 A.M.
