8. Aageson Pool
a. Virginia Graeme Baker Act;
Proksch went ahead with the first step of complying with the VGB Act and hired a engineering firm to come out and take a look at the pool; After receiving four bids it was decided to go with Riverside Engineering and Design out of Suamico…they are scheduled to come and look at the pool Thursday.
b. Pool Manager;
Proksch stated that as of right now we have had two applications for the Pool Manager and one does not have Lifeguard training; Questioned if we should look into the job description and make it mandatory…does the Pool Manager really need the training; Young stated that he believes the Pool Manager is overseeing the lifeguards and doesn’t think it should be mandatory, but should have CPR and a standard first aid license to be a Pool Manager; Wittkopf would like to see an ad run in the Reporter for a week and see if that brings in anymore applications;
c. New Chemical System;
Proksch stated he would like to get the pool on a different chemical system instead of using liquid chemicals he would like to introduce the pool to Cal. Hypo, which is a chemical in a solid form; Many other departments have already switch to this form and he would also like to go in that direction; This form of chemical is a lot safer for pool staff dealing with chemicals on a daily basis; Proksch received two quotes…one from Hawkins Chemical and Carrico Aquatic;
d. Deck Retile;
Proksch mentioned that he is receiving quotes on retiling the pool deck and is in the process of getting something together before the pool opens June 6th; Proksch stated there are areas of the deck that definitely need to be replaced this year and in a couple of years the whole deck might will to be looked at replacing…this year with the VGB Act the budget is to tight for that option;
