Wage & Personnel Minutes

Minutes of the Wage & Personnel committee meeting held on Tuesday, July 28th, 2009 at city hall pursuant to notice duly given.
1. Meeting called to order at 6:00 p.m. by Mayor Nerenhausen.
2. Roll call: Lloyd Heier, Al Schreiber, Marlene Zahn, and John Wittkopf. Excused: Jim Stiloski. Also present: Mayor Nerenhausen and Linda Belongia, Administrator and as recording secretary.

3. Moved by Zahn seconded by Schreiber to nominate Lloyd Heier as chairperson.
Moved by Zahn seconded by Schreiber to close the nominations and cast a unanimous ballot for Lloyd Heier as chairperson.
Motion carried upon verbal voice vote. 4 ayes

4. Moved by Schreiber seconded by Zahn to approve of the agenda as presented.
Motion carried upon verbal voice vote. 4 ayes

5. Moved by Schreiber seconded by Wittkopf to accept and place on file as typed
the minutes from the 1/12/09 meeting.
Motion carried upon verbal voice vote. 4 ayes
6. No correspondence or public input

7. Heier stated the committee may vote to convene into closed session pursuant to notice duly given and as allowed by Wis. Stats. 19.85(1) (c) for
discussion on public employees that the governing body has jurisdiction
over regarding the residency ordinance and a draft amendment to the job
description for the Superintendent of Public Works.

Moved by Zahn seconded by Schreiber to convene into Closed Session at 6:03 p.m.
Motion carried upon verbal voice vote. 4 ayes

Moved by Schreiber seconded by Zahn to reconvene into Open Session at 6:35 p.m.
Motion carried upon verbal voice vote. 4 ayes

9. Moved by Zahn seconded by Schreiber to recommend to Com of the Whole that the probationary period should end on 8/11/09 for Robert J.
Mommaerts and that he be hired as the full time Director of Public Works
at an hourly rate of $41.20 for 30 hrs per week with residency required by
9/30/09 and a signed statement from Mr. Mommaerts that he will be a City
of Oconto resident by 9/30/09.
Motion carried upon verbal voice vote. 4 ayes

10. Moved by Schreiber seconded by Zahn to recommend to Com of the Whole
to amend the job duties for the Superintendent of Public Works.
Motion carried upon verbal voice vote. 4 ayes

11. Moved by Wittkopf seconded by Zahn to adjourn. M/C
