Minutes of the Wage & Personnel meeting held on Thursday, November 19, 2009 at city hall pursuant to notice duly given.
1. Meeting called to order at 6 p.m. by Chairperson Schreiber.
2. Roll call: Al Schreiber, Jack Maas, Marlene Zahn, Jim Stiloski and John Wittkopf. Also present: Mayor Nerenhausen, Atty. Jim Kalny and Linda Belongia Administrator and as recording secretary.
3. Moved by Maas seconded by Stiloski to approve of the agenda as presented.
Motion carried upon verbal voice vote. 5 ayes
4. No correspondence or public input.
5. Initial exchange with Teamsters represented by Beth Kirchman; present for the Office/Clerical/Lab employees, Lisa Weigelt and Matt Beekman representing the Street/Utility unit; handouts provided by Atty. Kalny with city’s proposal and Kirchman for the Teamster unit’s; proposal verbally gone over; next meeting date set for 12/21 at 4:30 with W&P and at 5 p.m. to meet with the Teamster’s.
6. Chairperson Schreiber stated the committee may vote to convene into Closed Session pursuant to notice duly given and as allowed by Wis. Stats. 19.85(1)(e) & (g) for discussion on public employees that the governing body has jurisdiction over.
Moved by Wittkopf seconded by Zahn to convene into Closed Session at 6:35 p.m.
Motion carried upon verbal roll call vote. 5 ayes

7. Moved by Wittkopf seconded by Stiloski to reconvene into Open Session at 7:24 p.m.
Motion carried upon verbal voice vote. 5 ayes
Atty. Kalny left meeting.
8. Discussion on procedure for selecting candidates to be interviewed for the duly advertised Director of Public Service position.
Belongia suggested that the Chairperson’s of the BPW and OUC be involved as this position reports directly to these two committees;
Verbal consensus by committee agreeing that both chairperson’s be involved;
9. Next meeting of W&P for selection of candidates to be interviewed for DPS position, 12/2/09 at 5 p.m.
Next meeting of W&P for Teamsters will be 12/21/09 at 4:30 with committee and then at 5 p.m. with union.
Schreiber also asked that the next agenda on 12/2 include discussion on residency for part time employees;
10. Moved by Wittkopf seconded by Zahn to adjourn.
