Meeting minutes for the Harbor Commission held on June 2, 2009
“Unapproved”

1.) Meeting called to order by Dick Doeren at 4:03 p.m.
2.) Roll Call: Members Present: William Pries, Ellis Mercier, Dick Doeren, John Mick. Members absent: Ken Hayes. Others Present: Mayor Nerenhausen, Kale Proksch, Cletus Beaudin, Roger Reed, Raoul Zerbe.
3.) Approval of agenda: Motion by Pries second by Mercier to approve of agenda as presented. 4 ayes 1 absent. M/C
4.) Approval of the 5/4/2009 meeting minutes: Motion by Mercier second by Mick to approve of the 5/4/2009 meeting minutes as typed. 4 ayes 1 absent. M/C.
5.) Correspondence: Ed Young presented a list of items in question on the bathroom/shower facility at the Breakwater.
6.) Public Input: Boat Launch Letter.
7.) Discussion/possible recommendation/updates on the following:
7a.) Review Harbor Slip Rates: Table for next meeting.
7b.) Review Flag Pole placement and purchase of flags for it: Motion by Mick second by Mercier put up flag pole behind benches (center). Dick will look into flags for the flag pole. 4 ayes 1 absent. M/C
7c.) Review 5K run August 15th, 2009: Mick doesn’t understand why we need to shut down roads only 15 runners. Raoul doesn’t think it’s set in stone hasn’t seen much advertising for it yet. Depends on the number of runners he might have could be a problem on that date if a lot of runners, prime boating date. Pries against the run in the dead of the summer after Labor Day would be better. Next meeting have Nathan come and discuss more.
7d.) Review sundial placement: Dick is talking with Nerenhausen, he doesn’t want to push it, would like to see the park developed more (jetty/seawall) board talking on placement for sundial different ideas/areas.
7e.) Review Cruisers dock agreement: Table to next meeting when Ken is here.
7f.) Review 2 year agreement with slip renter: Cletus brought up launch dock. Are there plans to buy a third dock for ramp? Mick wants to know what needs to be done to fix that and get a dock. Kale and Dick will look into for the next meeting. Motion by Mercier second by Pries to buy 10 foot extension. 4 ayes 1 absent. M/C
7g.) Slip rental (dockside): Special rate for dockside dock, board doesn’t know what appropriate rate would be. Mick thinks it would benefit the dockside. Raoul likes the idea and is willing to help out the Park/Marina. Mayor suggests to waive the fee for this season, see how it goes. Doeren agreed with the Mayor to approve no over night parking for boats for 2009 season. Motion by Mercier second by Pries to let Dockside post a sign on Docks 18’ – 19’ no fee for this year but no overnight parking. 4 ayes 1 absent. M/C
7h.) Dog bag dispensers: Take the dispenser down, out of bags. Roger mentioned people just take the bags, no need to refill them.
8.) Approval of Accounts Payable for May 2009: Motion by Pries second by Mercier to approve of accounts payable for May 2009 in the amount of $2,175.98. 4 ayes 1 absent. M/C
9.) Review Revenue & Expenditure Guidelines for May 2009: Motion by Pries second by Mercier to approve of the revenue and expenditure guidelines for May 2009 as presented. 4 ayes 1 absent. M/C
