City of Oconto Tourism Commission Minutes
March 3, 2009

The meeting was called to order by Mayor Nerenhausen.
Roll call: Mayor Nerenhausen. Pearl Christopherson and Ed Zahn
Christopherson reported that Matravers Hardware will have 6 bicycles available for rent at the breakwater by May 1. Users will need to pay a deposit which would be returned after the bike is returned.

Helen Weber arrived to constitute a quorum.

Postcards of attractions were discussed but due to absence of Doeren who has copies no action could be taken. It was considered to possibly have one of 4 sites in the city and one of Holtwood Campground or a combination of such.

The subject of having historical murals painted on buildings or attached was discussed. Question was raised if that would be affected by the sign ordinance and the Mayor indicated it would not. Zahn indicated if he put one up he was interested in the picture of the arrival of Father Allouez coming in a canoe. Pearl was going to check on getting a price quote. Pearl brought up the Rustic Road possibility again but no action was taken.

It was also brought up to get a bicycle trail map printed for campers and others when we are sure of location.
