ATV Ad Hoc Committee

1. Call to Order: The meeting was called to order by Co-Chair Terri Berth at 5:05 pm
2. Roll Call: Members present; Terri Berth, Dave Dreshek, Russ Dreshek, Brian Leonard, Bruce Mommaerts. Also present; Mayor Nerenhausen (Mayor Nerenhausen entered the meeting at 5:35 pm).
3. Correspondence: None
4. Approval of Agenda: Motion by Mommaerts, second by Dave Dreshek to approve the agenda as printed. Motion carried.
5. Approval of Minutes of previous meeting: Motion by Russ Dreshek, Second by Mommaerts to approve the minutes as printed. Motion carried
6. Discussion/Possible action on Draft Ordinance for Removal of Snow with ATV’s: A corrected draft was handed out for discussion. The committee discussed various portions of the draft ordinance and made the following changes:
a. Section (f) Route; hours of operation were removed in order to not discriminate against shift workers.
b. Section (g) Laws, F. Language changed to read “At all times while operating an ATV on City roads, operators shall be not less than 16 years of age and shall have a valid driver’s license. Operator shall obey all State of Wisconsin laws regarding the operation of ATV’s.”
Motion by Dave Dreshek, second by Mommaerts to approve the changes to the draft amendment language. Motion Carried. Motion by Russ Dreshek, second by Berth to recommend the draft ordinance to the Committee of the Whole and City Council having discussed the draft ordinance with the Police Chief, Police and Fire Commission, City Attorney, and the Mayor and having amended the draft ordinance based upon input from the aforementioned groups and city departments. Motion Carried
7. Next meeting date: The next meeting of the committee will be February 9, 2009 at City Hall in the conference room if the room is available, or in another available room.
