Forestry Committee meeting minutes held on October 7, 2009

1.) Meeting called to order @ 9:03 a.m.
2.) Roll Call: Members Present: Terry Bendt, Don Denor, Jim Hornblad. Members absent: Brian Rice. Others Present: Kale Proksch & Jeremy Wusterbarth.
3.) Approval of Agenda as presented: Motion by Bendt second by Denor to approve of agenda as presented. 3 ayes 1 absent. M/C.
4.) Approval of meeting minutes from 8/12/2009: Motion by Denor second by Bendt to approve of meeting minutes from 8/12/2009 as typed. 3 ayes 1 absent. M/C.
5.) Public Input: None.
6.) Correspondence: None.
7.) Discussion/possible recommendation/update on the following:
7a.) Forestry Workshop: Part of the grant – Ranger Service holding workshop on October 28th.
7b.) 2009 Grant Update: Workshop October 28th/Bluestem in progress of completing/ 30 trees planted.
7c.) Winter Wonderland Tree: Motion by Bendt second by Denor to go ahead with a tree for Winter Wonderland if money is available. 3 ayes 1 absent. M/C.
7d.) Memorial Program (Tree Location): Go ahead with letting the donor selecting the site upon City Forester final approval.
7e.) 2010 Grant recommendation to Council: Motion by Bendt second by Denor to recommend to Council to go ahead with grant. 3 ayes 1 absent. M/C.
7f.) 2010 Arbor Day: Do a less amount of trees, plant only 5 to 7 trees, educate class before they plant – set up session with class on proper way to plant, start earlier so trees do not dry out.
7g.) 2010 Budget: Motion by Denor second by Bendt to recommend to Finance to approve of the 2010 budget for Forestry. 3 ayes 1 absent. M/C.
8.) Next meeting date/time/agenda items: December 9th, 2009 @ 9:00 a.m.; Items: Arbor Day, Grant 2009, Gypsy moth
