Forestry Committee meeting minutes July 8, 2009

1.) Meeting called to order at 9:11 a.m.
2.) Roll call: Members Present: Terry Bendt, Brian Rice and Jim Hornblad. Others Present: Kale Proksch.
3.) Approval of agenda as presented: Motion by Hornblad second by Bendt to approve of agenda as presented. 3 ayes 1 absent. M/C.
4.) Approval of meeting minutes from 4/14/09: Motion by Hornblad second by Bendt to approve of meeting minutes from 4/14/09 as typed. 3 ayes 1 absent. M/C.
5.) Public Input: None.
6.) Correspondence: None.
7.) Discussion/possible recommendation/update on the following:
7a.) Trees at Holtwood: Remove dead trees.
7b.) Main Street Trees: Replace two trees this fall.
7c.) Grant Update/Budget: Reviewed.
7d.) Street Tree Planting quotes: Motion by Hornblad second by Bendt to recommend to Finance Committee to hire Bluestem Forestry Consulting, Inc. to do street tree inventory for $3,490.00 ½ budgeted ½ from grant money. 3 ayes 1 absent. M/C.
7e.) Staff training/education workshop: This fall – looking for quotes.
7f.) Fall planting areas: If have money Holtwood.
8.) Next meeting date/time/agenda items: August 12th at 9:00 a.m. Street Tree Planting, Staff Training/education workshops, Fall Planting areas, Tree watering.
9.) Adjournment: Motion by Hornblad second by Bendt to adjourn at 9:45 a.m. 3 ayes 1 absent. M/C.
