Finance Committee Minutes

Minutes of the Finance Committee meeting held on Tuesday, January 6th, 2009 at city hall pursuant to notice duly given.

1. Meeting called to order at 5:30 p.m. by Chairperson Maas.
2. Roll call: Jack Maas, Jim Lacourciere, Dick Doeren and Joe Stiloski. Excused: Ed Young. Also present: Mayor Nerenhausen and Linda Belongia, Administrator and as recording secretary.
3. Moved by Stiloski seconded by Lacourciere to approve of the agenda as presented.
Motion carried upon verbal voice vote. 4 ayes
4. No correspondence or public input.
5. Discussion/recommendation on:
a. Memo from Park, Recreation & Forestry Director on seasonal employees.
Maas stated we have a pool of seasonal employees; parks staff is seasonal and non union controlled; Maas stated for future budgets would like to see separate accounts in public works and parks breaking out the budget for seasonal employees; discussion on what jobs are being done by the parks seasonal employees. Memo also asked for consideration of a full time parks supervisor; nothing in 2009 budget and such a position would have to be created and recommended by Wage & Personnel.
Moved by Lacourciere seconded to refer to Wage & Personnel request from Park, Recreation & Forestry Director for consideration on hiring a parks supervisor.
Motion carried upon verbal voice vote. 4 ayes

Maas stated we are not condemning the Park, Recreation & Forestry Director; just need justification on employees;

b. Moved by Stiloski seconded by Doeren to approve of the listing of accounts payables in the amount of $334,357.15; payroll for $102,499.43 and financial reports as presented.
Motion carried upon verbal voice vote. 4 ayes

6. Moved by Doeren seconded by Lacourciere to adjourn. M/C
